About Us

Dakers Solicitors specialises in commercial and residential property conveyancing, wills, probate and estate planning, commercial litigation, employment and insolvency law, and prides itself on offering a local service for the inhabitants of Brighton and Hove

Tim Dakers
Tim (tim@dslaw.co.uk) qualified in 1977 and has practised in Brighton since 1975. He set up the firm in 1980 and is familiar with all aspects of the local property scene and relies very much on this knowledge to ease the conveyancing process, which he appreciates can be traumatic. He is always available by telephone, email or personal attendance (home visits if required) and is fully conversant with the use of modern technology and its use in speeding up the conveyancing process.

In commercial matters, the use and understanding of information technology is fundamental and is used to its fullest potential. Tim welcomes instructions in commercial litigation from heavyweight debt recovery to complex matters involving challenging and unusual legal issues.

Tim also has a niche practice in computer related contracts and speaks French to a high standard.

Having been a Brighton resident for most of his life, Tim is especially knowlegeable about the local area, in particular the residential areas of Fiveways, Hanover, Patcham and Kemp Town and of course the City of Brighton and Hove in general.

Nick Wescombe
Nick is a linguist and lawyer having switched to law comparatively recently. He has extensive experience in private client matters and tricky probate matters, which represent a gratifying challenge to him.

Marie Venables
Marie has been working for Dakers Solicitors since 1993 interspersed with a ten year gap when she worked for a large London firm dealing with commercial real estate and the arrival of two children. Marie specialises in dealing with stamp duty land tax and HM Land Registry applications.

Lorraine Wright
Lorraine has worked in residential conveyancing since 1994 and has been with Dakers Solicitors since May 2013. She sends out initial documents to clients/solicitors, issues contracts to a buyer’s solicitors, deals with enquiries raised thereon and thereafter all matters up to completion on both sale and purchase transactions.

Dakers Solicitors is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (No. 598193) and is the successor practice to Dakers Seymour.
